I wouldn't feed this food to my dog. First clue should have been $4 burger. Super small grizzly hamburger. Cold, small and mushy hot dog. Oh yea don't forget the stale bun

Okay fellow yelpers, it's time I lost my yelpster virginity. So here goes... If you're looking for a great burger in Myrtle Beach, and only a great burger, then Hamburger Joe's is the place to be. The burgers are cooked to order quick, fast and in a hurry topped any way you like. The beef is well seasoned and perfectly cooked. If you order bacon as I did, you won't be disappointed. The bacon is fully cooked with just the right amount of crunch and you're sure to get some in every bite. No chewy fat that pulls all of the bacon out with the first bite and no burnt bits. Outside of the burgers themselves, Joe doesn't have much going for him. Had the burger not been so tasty I'd likely have given them only a 2 star rating. Here's why: Poor Service - You are not greeted as you enter and are expected to find your own seat even though there is no sign posted to direct you to do so. Most tables only seat 4. Should you require additional seating you'll get a few dirty looks from the mostly teenage staff carrying some special oregano in their pockets. After they huff and puff they will shift some tables together for you and make you feel stupid for trying to seat yourself to begin with. What do you people want? Make up your mind! The server who approached our table shared no information and walked off after one person asked for 2 pitchers of beer. She never bothered to ask if anyone else wanted other drinks such as water, bottled beer, soda, etc. She returned 10 minutes later after presumably having an issue with the keg. She offered no apology or explanation and immediately jumped into taking orders. We had to stop her to let her know that other people at the table still wanted alternate beverages. She disappeared yet again. Serving a party of 9, she forgot who had already ordered after the 3rd order was taken. Beer Selection - What beer selection? You get 2 draft choices, PBR or Natural Light. If that doesn't work for you then feel free to select from their "wide variety" of bottled beers: Bud, Bud Light, Coors Light and Miller Light. If you have too many, be careful on your way out. The stairs out front are steep. They Don't Take Credit Cards - Locals know good food and this place appeared to have that local appeal. My concern is with the location being right off of the main boulevard and the influx of tourist traffic that they are sure to face during peak season, how could you not take credit cards? What business this day in age still operates as cash only? I'd be curious as to how much business they've lost as a result. Since we are in town on business this posed a big problem for my group. All meals have to be expensed out and reimbursed via a company credit card. Per our company policy, we should've packed up and headed elsewhere but we were too tired and hungry so we sucked it up thanks to the in house ATM. By default I would never go back if traveling on business. Atmosphere - The walls are covered in money. Yes, money. Real money. I felt like the place could get robbed at any minute, only the robbers would just start to peel bills off of the wall instead of going to the register. I actually caught myself casing the joint in my head. It was a nice concept, but odd. You could see where patrons had attempted to rip dollar bills from the walls around them. There were even bills on the wall lining the hall to the restroom. No one can watch that at all times so I'm sure they're being robbed blind. I'm accustomed to seeing the first dollar bill tip in a frame behind the register, not thousands of dollars plastered all over the walls. If you've got that kind of money to waste throw some my way! They had a couple of TV's but you couldn't hear them and from my position one was behind me. They had garage style doors that could open during warmer months to create an outdoor dining experience. I'd say that was a potential plus for them. In summary I'd stick to my opening comment. If you want a good burger then this is the place for you. The prices are very reasonable as well and could accommodate any budget. If you're looking for anything more then I'd suggest you keep on moving up the boulevard. Peace out peeps!

We came with a party of 13 and we wait for about an hour. The food was good but if you are really hungry this burgers won't filled the spot. The service was good but there was too many people in our party and the girl got confused with our orders.

Joe's has a hamburger name but the chili dogs and chicken wings are what they do best. If you're not picky about your beer, you can get one for $1. Love this laud back place for a quick and easy lunch with friends.

I gave this place a 3 star only because it could be so much better. The burgers where good and the place nice and clean, but the burgers where a bit plane for what they could of been and as somebody else said the onion rigs where strait out of the bag as where the hot dogs. If you make your burgers from scratch do the rest from scratch as well.

Went for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised. At 2:30 there was still a few minutes wait for a table (probably because it's been raining all day so no one is at the beach). In our party 2 people ordered burgers and 2 ordered grilled cheese. Took a bit of time for the food to come. Husband said his burger was good and gives the place 4 stars. I took a small bite and it wasn't anything special but was good and for 3.95 can't complain. My grilled cheese (pictured) was actually very tasty. At first glance due to it's round shape I thought it was a hamburger bun but I think maybe sourdough bread? Crinkle cut fries were fine, probably from frozen but served hot. Good choice for something cheap and a step above fast food.

One star. And that's being generous. Sorry HJ's. Please add other than repackaged and frozen foods to your menu. We had high hopes based on your establishment name. Well, at least we gave it a "one time" shot.

We stopped in while on vacation as it looked like a really nice place to eat. The prices seemed reasonable. Pros: The kids a hotdog and chicken strips w/ fries which were good. My wife and I had pulled pork sandwiches which were ok. Cons: The wait staff was helpful, but I feel they didn't tend tables like you would expect. The beverages are $2 which is average I think in this area, but they are served in plastic picnic cups. Seemed a bit high for type of serving. When you walk in, your not sure if you are suppose to seat yourself or if someone is going to seat you.

We tried this on the recommendation of a friend and based on the number of cars in the lot. Will not go again. Plain burgers with no real options. The pulled pork was ok. Beer battered onion rings right out of the bag from the freezer. My beer was in the smallest plastic cup I've ever been served. There are too many other restaurants in this area to go back.

Best burger and BBQ joint in the area! Onion Rings are awesome as well! GO THERE!!!!!

This place is like an upscale McDonald's with waitresses. Me and my boyfriend ate here today and weren't impressed at all. From the outside, you figure it would be this great burger joint with lots of burgers/ toppings to choose from. Well, it isn't. We looked over the menus and all they had were a hamburger, cheeseburger, fried chicken sandwich, grilled chicken sandwich, etc. That's it. Just save yourself and go to McDonald's or chic fil a up the road.

Against better advisement I went anyway. Don't bother. Drink specials are righteous but food is lacking. For a burger joint in name, the burger is lacking. It's like being nicknamed big dick, and having...well you get it. Take your dollar else where, even the one stapled to the wall.

After years if going to the Joes in North Myrtle, we went here by chance and I'm glad we did! The other joes is usually packed and only takes cash. This one was easy to get in with our group of 10 and they took plastic! Yay! The food was great as usual and the service was good too. I used to think they served the best burgers in the world but now I think I've just had so many awesome burgers! So I'd rank joes in the top 10% in burgers I've had, just nit at the top anymore.

Great for a quick luncheon. Prices are descent, fairly inexpensive. $1 icehouse drafts $3 long island ice teas. Bring a dollar to decorate and stick it on the wall! (Over $9,000 of OneDollarBills in this store)

Seems to have gone downhill in the last year or so. The food all tasted frozen and the service was awful.

    Great burgers

Just so-so. There are better burger joints around the beach. However the wings and onion rings were top notch.

Not what I expected. When we first sat down here I have to admit it was not what I expected. The menu had very few options and the burgers we saw being served didn't look that good. We did stay and ordered cheese burgers and onion rings. We were pleasantly surprised the burgers were good and the onion rings were amazing. The staff was friendly and tentative. If you want a quick inexpensive meal. i would try Hamburger Joes. Better than McDonald's and less expensive.

Decent but not a wow. The waitress was very nice and attentive. We ordered hamburgers, fries, onion rings and hot dogs. Portion sizes are small. Good but not great. Okay for a quick lunch but I probably would not have dinner there.

There just isn't anything special about Joe's except the old wooden building and the dollar bills tacked on the walls and no credit cards. Yes, 2012 and no cards. The burgers are run of the mill skinny grilled burgers with a few normal choice of toppings. Onion rings are good but not special. Maybe if they doubled the size of the meat and got creative this could be awesome. The location is a block off 17 near Barefoot Landing. I believe Joe's is one small step away from a truly unique Burger joint. I do have to say that I've been there a number of times and they are always crowded. Maybe the adage of "if it ain't broke" applies here. NO CREDIT CARDS

Service is slow. Sat for almost 10 minutes with no service. Kid said hotdog was good. Wife liked pulled pork. Burger is on par with McDonald's mcdouble. Onion rings were good. Coolest part of place is money stapled to the wall.

Very simple menu. A good place for a quick bite to eat, especially if you have young kids. The grilled cheese could have been melted a little more, but the fried chicken sandwich was what I expected. It was satisfying, but not delicious. I would recommend you to try the onion rings.

Lets just say I am an ex-employee and I would never eat there. I'll start off with the good stuff... the onion rings are good and so are the wings. Dollar ice house is kinda nice. Sweet tea is too sweet and the salads, we used our hands to serve those on busy nights... so don't order one. The waitresses are bitchy and the owner is horrible. The manager is equally horrible. Now I worked there probably 3 summers ago and was treated so bad I had to leave. It's pure grease and at times we would use the chili burger (which is way below good) for burgers because they didn't order enough. The chili sits for a long time too. Anyway... I would never go back, but if I were forced I would eat wings and grilled cheese. Wings, cheese sticks, onion rings, and fries are all frozen. The ranch is good though.

Wanted something local so we decided to hit Hamburger Joes. The parking lot was full...good sign? The menu is straight forward. Prices are ok. Everything is a la carte so 2 burgers w/ bacon, 1 order of onion rings, and 2 waters: $13 plus tips. The burgers are pretty good. The onion rings at Sams Corner are better. Servers are friendly.

Very good and reasonable....We enjoyed the hot dogs, onion rings, and the barbecue. Nice service..

Not much of a Hamburger place in my opinion. Wings, onion rings and $5 pitcher were the highlights. Burgers, um, not so much. Went to Dagwoods and had a monumental feast the next night for approximately the same money. Guess where I'll go back to. Just sayin'. Sorry Joe' , No moe'.

Hamburger Joe's has a good vibe about it. The walls are decorated with one dollar bills, presumably from customers. I ordered the cheeseburger, a hot dog, fries, and a Pepsi. They have a large selection beers and mixed drinks as well. Seems like a good hang out spot for locals and other transients at the beach. The waitress took my order rather quickly. The only problem with this place is the food. It's very average. The was absolutely nothing special about the food. My bill came to $10.90, which is fairly reasonable, considering where I was. I gave it 2 stars because as it says on Yelp "I've experienced better".

  • Carol H.

Decor is super casual with one dollar bills drawn on by customers stapled to the wall. Nice staff. We ate there at 1:30pm and the place wasn't very busy...yet we waited forever. The burger's were delicious....thin parties with lots of bacon. Hot dogs looked boiled but were totally edible with delicious homemade Chili (no beans). Cheap prices and good food make it a go-to restaurant especially for families.

Simple menu: hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, fried bologna, barbecue pork. The atmosphere is very friendly and community oriented. Very clean. But I'd have to say for the price, it leaves a lot to be desired. I ordered the cheesburger with the works (slaw, chili, and onion). It was well cooked and served, but again, very ordinary. For the price, I'd expect something along the lines of five guys or fosters. But for the menu and overall taste, it should be priced like in-and-out burger. Our order of 1 cheesburger, 1 pork sandwich, 1 BLT, 1 grilled cheese sandwich, 1 order of fries 1 order of onion rings, and 4 drinks totaled over 35 dollars. To be honest we would have been just as satisfied going to McDonald's. Priced appropriately, I'd give them 4 stars, it is better than McDonald's, but as over priced as it was, I won't be going back.
